FAQs about Cerakote, Glock Tuning, Red Dot Cut & more

Who is behind VEREX Tactical?

VEREX Tactical is a brand of FBT Fine Ballistic Tools GmbH based in Gröbming, Austria.

Legally, we operate as a firearms manufacturer and dealer with worldwide trade relationships, and we have a subsidiary in the USA.

Our in-house shooting range allows our customers to test the weapons on-site before purchasing them in our shop.

In addition to trading firearms and ammunition, we run an internal development department and create our prototypes using state-of-the-art CNC, laser, and 3D printers entirely autonomously.

What does VEREX Tactical do?

In addition to our signature designs, we also offer standard modifications of grips (e.g., stipplings, undercuts, etc.) and slides (e.g., Red Dot Cuts).

With our weapon coatings like Cerakote, PVD, and DLC, we can also realize color designs for weapons, knives, and more.

For those who desire even more customization, we can create complete customizations and theme weapons in our Premium Line. However, it is important to note that these require significantly more time and are therefore situated in a different budget category compared to our Signature Line modifications.

Do I have to buy a new firearm to customise it?

In addition to the option to purchase completely finished new firearms from us, customers also have the opportunity to have their own weapons modified by us.

How do I order?

Have you found a suitable design or desired modification in our online shop and read through all relevant FAQs regarding shipping, etc.?

You can then easily add the desired modifications to your cart in the online shop and complete the purchase process.

It’s best to print out the order confirmation and include it in the package (if you don’t have a printer available, you can also write your full address and contact details as well as the order number on a note and include it in the package).

Once your weapon has arrived at our facility and payment has been received, your order will be queued for processing. After the modification is complete, the customer’s weapon will be returned as a secure EMS+ value package with personal delivery. If it is a new weapon that has been ordered, it must be picked up at the shop. By arrangement, we can also send ordered new weapons to a firearms dealer, who will then take care of the registration in the ZWR.

Shipping firearms within Austria?

The laws of the respective country apply here!

In Austria, the shipment of (unloaded!) firearms is permitted as long as it is ensured that the package does not end up in the wrong hands.

Austrian Post AG offers the “value package” shipping option, in which every officer must sign when receiving the package. This ensures that the whereabouts are 100% traceable. Furthermore, the package should be sent as EMS to ensure the fastest possible arrival and to prevent the package from spending a long time in a distribution center.

The return shipment is then carried out in the same way, but with the additional option of “personal delivery” to ensure that the package with the weapon is only handed over to the authorized person and does not end up in, for example, children’s hands.

New weapons may not be shipped, as mail order sales are prohibited in Austria. These must be picked up in the shop or, after consultation, can be sent to a firearms dealer who will then carry out the necessary registration in the Central Weapons Register (ZWR).

Shipping firearms from Germany?

Please contact our firearms trade partner in Germany for the transfer of your weapon from Germany:

Mr. Schreiterer and his team will organize the necessary export permits, the secure shipment to FBT Fine Ballistic Tools GmbH, as well as the re-importation to Germany. The cost for this service is €300.00, which includes all administrative fees, as well as the outbound and return shipping with a specialized logistics company.

Shipping from another country?

Please contact the firearms dealer you trust for the transfer of your weapon from outside the EU or a third country. They will discuss the possibilities and costs of the transfer with you in advance before contacting us to arrange the shipment.

How much is a customisation?

That strongly depends on the desired modification. In our online shop, you will find numerous standard modifications, coatings, and our signature designs.

For those who desire even more customization, our Premium Line is available. However, it should be noted that this option is in a higher budget category due to the significantly higher time investment. For example, the basic modification of theme weapons starts at €2,000, with almost no upper limits if a customer desires exclusive modifications such as gold and jewel inlays.

What is Cerakote | PVD | DLC?

Here you will find detailed information about the different types of coatings and which one is best suited for your purposes: >>Coatings<<

Is a CIP reproofing always neccessary?

A reproofing is necessary if material is removed from a highly stressed weapon part or if a heat treatment above the tempering temperature is performed. Milling and laser work on the slide or barrel always require reproofing (in Germany, this also applies to modifications of the frame).

Cerakote and DLC coatings do not reach these temperatures, but for a PVD coating on the barrel, slide, or cylinder, reproofing is also required.

The CIP proofing is automatically commissioned by us at the proof house if it is necessary. Modified weapons (or parts) are only handed back to the customer after successful reproofing.

Restaurations & barrel threading?

We also restore old weapons, giving them both a new appearance and a technical update so that, for example, a beloved heirloom or an aging hunting rifle looks like new again.

In this process, we also offer thread cutting for the installation of suppressors, as well as conversion to carbon stocks from the range of FBT Fine Ballistic Tools GmbH.

How long does a modification take?

This depends on the desired modification as well as our current order situation and possibly the situation at the proof house. While a simple Cerakote coating takes about 3 weeks, modifications that require a CIP reproofing will take at least 6 weeks.

Do I need to send the weapon disassembled?

Ideally, the weapon should be disassembled by the customer before the modification so that we can directly work on the parts.

However, we are happy to take on this work for a fee (the costs are calculated based on the actual time spent at the respective hourly rate). If reproofing is required after the modification, the weapon must be assembled by us before it goes to the proof house.

For this, we need the complete weapon, and delays can occur if parts are not sent by the customer.

Can I also order tuning parts and accessories?

In addition to our constantly growing range of products, we are also happy to order and install your desired accessories from third-party suppliers.

Governmental inspection during modification?

In the unlikely event that you have a weapon inspection by the authorities while your weapon is with us for modification, you can present the order confirmation.

The authority will then contact us directly to verify the whereabouts of the weapon.

Do you also modify airsoft and blank firing weapons?

Milling work and signature designs are not possible on blank firing and airsoft weapons.

We also perform Cerakote coatings and smaller laser engravings on non-lethal weapons upon request. Please note that the effort for us is the same as for a live weapon, and therefore no lower price is possible.
