Cerakote ceramic coating provides a unique appearance and outstanding corrosion protection
Cerakote is a coating developed in the USA specifically for firearms and is available in many colours and colour combinations.
In addition to the desired visual enhancement, the firearm receives a surface that protects against environmental influences and significantly extends the service life of a hunting firearm.
After a degreasing acetone bath, the disassembled firearm parts are stripped of old bluing or surface rust in the sandblasting cabinet and recoated with a very thin layer of Cerakote in your chosen colours. This durable ceramic coating from the USA reaches its final strength after curing for two hours at 120 °C in a dedicated curing chamber.
Alongside outstanding corrosion protection, Cerakote gives your firearm a distinctive appearance and increases its value. From refined elegance to a post-apocalyptic look, we colour your firearm to suit your preferences.
Cerakote product tests
PVD – Physical Vapor Deposition
Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) is a high-performance coating with excellent sliding properties and extremely high abrasion resistance.
In a highly complex thermo-electrolytic process, molecular-sized particles are released from carrier plates and bond to the workpiece, forming a protective and visually flawless surface.
The thin coating reflects the pretreated surface of the workpiece: blasted parts appear matt after coating, while polished parts shine in the coating colour.
Unlike Cerakote, however, the colour selection is very limited:
- Gold-coloured
- Copper-coloured
- Silver-grey
- Bronze
Due to the high temperature of 450° in the curing chamber, PVD coating is suitable only for steel and stainless-steel parts. If essential firearm components (barrel, slide) are coated, subsequent re-proofing at the proof house is required.
DLC – Diamond Like Carbon
Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) is, as its name suggests, the hardest coating, with a surface approaching the hardness of diamond.
It is ideal for heavily used sporting firearms or daily use (e.g. frequent holstering and drawing).
Only black is available.
Because the coating process uses relatively low temperatures of no more than 190 °C, it can be applied to aluminium, steel and stainless steel and does not require re-proofing.
The coated surface reflects the pretreatment almost exactly. Sandblasted parts appear matt, polish-blasted parts satin-matt, and polished parts retain their gloss with only minimal matting from the DLC layer.
Combining different surface treatments therefore allows striking effects despite the limited colour choice.
